My Grandmother is turning 90 this year. Her birthday is the day after Christmas, and let me tell you, she is the best Christmas present any little kid could have. When I was little she had slumber parties with just me and her, and she actually slept on the floor with me! Her favorite story is when I was about 6 or 7 and we had a “camp out” on her back deck. When I woke up in the morning I was appalled to find her sleeping right inside the sliding glass door. I flung open the door in a great huff and said in my most accusing voice, “good trick Grandma, good trick.”
She gives the most amazing back scratches. I would literally kill for one. OK, maybe I’d just seriously maim, but it would be SO worth it.
Basically, I think she is the kindest, most giving person I have ever known. And I’m deeply honored to be her granddaughter.
And now she gets to be “Gigi” to my kids. She has spent the last two summers living with my mom (who is close to us), and I can’t tell you how it blesses me that my kids have gotten to know her, and she them.
She has a special connection to the baby, since she met him when he was just two months old. To see her eyes light up when she’s holding him, or he says hi to her. It means so much to me.
When I saw this generations picture on Pinterest, I knew I absolutely had to try it. And I’m so happy with it! I finished it just a few hours ago, and my mom and I already have plans to print it as a canvas gallery wrap. I can’t wait to give it to Grandma!

Gigi is almost 90? Seriously? That chicky-poo is in great shape. Good for her!
I know, she’s amazing!!!
Heather, could I ask you a favor? Would you consider linking this great idea up to the Deep Root’s ‘EOA’ Wednesday link-up? I’d like others to see it, and the link-up is a great way to get exposure. I would be blessed! BTW, I just liked you on FB 🙂
I love this idea! Beautiful picture
Beautiful!
Her smile is infectious!
What a beautiful post and absolutely gorgeous photo’s! I love the photo showing the four generations! This will be a very treasured photo for generations to come and will be so appreciated by your children and their children. It is so lovely that your children have the opportunity to get to know your grandma 🙂 xo
Bless! How very fortunate to have your children enjoy the love of their great grandma.
Great idea! Such a lovely keepsake.
How lucky to have your grandmother at an age where you can truly appreciate her. I think when we are little we take for granted some of our family – especially the oldies! I like to think that if my grandparents were still here, that I would appreciate them more – growing older myself (and with my own children) gives me a greater understanding and perspective on the older generations.
Your grandmother sounds delightful and looks so happy with your son. Also, love the photo! I had several photos taken with me holding up a photo frame for my wedding. I love them!
Thanks a great photo. My grandmother is a great grandmother to many children. I could sit here and count them but that would take a while.
What a great photo – I love Grandmas that are involved with their families ! My Mom is grandma to two grandchildren – my brother’s son and my daughter. She has spent many happy hours with them !
Have the best weekend !

round techniques very similar to kung fu.
What size photos did you print/reprint? I am trying this and I did 8x10s of every step, but my daughter looks so small in the final one…
I learned that the hard way too. I think I did a 16×20? You have to keep the original dimensions unless you gave yourself a lot of room around the subject. So 16×20 would be if you did a 4×5 original, or 16×24 if you did 4×6.
